Why don't I just get insurance?

The average price for insurance for a smartphone is £11 / month for a single device, and they lock you into a contract for a minimum of 12 months.

So you go to claim, excess is £50 minimum on a modern smartphone, you then have to send it off to be fixed, guess what? you have to pay for shipping + tracking which is easily £10 if not more.
Then you have to wait 2+ weeks for your phone to be repaired, really, who can live two weeks with out a phone? No one which is why you would then have to buy a temporary smartphone costing at least £50 if not more! so overall just to replace your screen you would be looking at least £110 and that not even including the cost for insurance.
